„Contemplative graphic art by Irena Dauksaite – Guobiene falls into category of „quasi-concsious“ abstraction. Her prints integrale intimate soliloquy - or an individual token – into the wide field of universal symbols, whose character is frequently already inherent in printing technology. Multiple printing of the same plate creats the feeling of a ritual progress and lends the work a magical aura. Poised monolithic blocks juxtaposed with some small forms of life circulating around them, lends intriguo to the artist‘s prints. The plates of the prints are suspended in the air as something given a priori or a sharp-edged fate: in their shadow there is fussing and bustling of those who try to change the course of the fate: these are the signs and symbols, scripts, unidentified microscopic shapes and then ghosts of some other indentifiable shapes. Though of clearly intimate character, her works avoid overexpose the artist herself. Her prints have the elegance and melancholy of poetry by R.M.Rilke, the poet often quoted by the artist.
